The Bodil Eskesen Center
Well-maintained rehabilitation universe
Rigshospitalet Glostrup was expanded in 2023 to include a new neurorehabilitation center, the Bodil Eskesen Center.
This modern building was created with a focus on the latest research in healing architecture and provides a highly specialized physical environment for patients with severe brain and spinal cord injuries.
The center is surrounded by a green park, which gives the building a harmonious and inviting landscape appearance. AART Architects have elegantly integrated the appearance of the park into the choice of materials for the façade.
In close connection with the landscape, part of the building is clad in Western Red Cedar. The reddish wood color gives the façade a warm appearance and the almost knot-free wood species ensures an aesthetically pleasing and exclusive design.
Western Red Cedar is ideal for slat cladding as it is extremely weatherproof and resistant to rot, insects and fungi. It also has a low density and requires minimal maintenance.
Nordisk Profil has supplied wooden louvers as façade cladding for various areas, including the side cladding and ceiling in the entrance area, the inner framing of balconies and the main façade of several buildings.
Woodfac Panel was used for the timber cladding, which acts as closed climate protection and protects the building from the weather. The slats were installed with a center distance of 70 and 100 mm and in the dimensions 34x34 mm and 34x65 mm.
Nordisk Profil also supplied technical buildings for various shielding systems for the hospital. Read more about it here.
